TESTIMONIALS

Update: 2010-01-15

Thank you for your patience waiting for this update. As promised, here is an update of the purchases made recently by the MCSF.

- A Wheelchair Ramp Shelter was purchased for a double leg amputee
- A scooter was rented for a soldier that required extra help during recovery from an amputation
- The Ten year old son of a soldier that required a double leg amputation victim was falling behind in school due to the trauma associated with dealing with his father's amputations. The MCSF is providing extra tutoring for him while he learns to cope

(All of the soldiers helped recently have been victims of IED explosions)

The board of Directors will be meeting in February and from that, the foundation will be planning some new fundraising events this year.

The foundation has also been receiving an increasing amount of donations through the Canadahelps.org website.

New purchases are being made regularly and updates will be posted frequently.

Thank you again for your ongoing support.

Update:

Thanks to your generous support, we have already helped many wounded soldiers and their families. The following is a brief description of some of the cases we have received and how we have made a difference;

Please note that all but one of the wounded soldiers we have dealt with so far have been injured when in tanks hit by IED's (Improvised explosive devices).

A soldier had such extensive damage done to his legs that he required eighteen surgeries. We paid for additional physio therapy to enable him to achieve his goal of being able to walk again.

One soldier was in such extensive and chronic pain that he was confined to a bed twenty four hours a day. We purchased him a lazy boy lift chair so that he could at least be out of bed and be able to socialize with his family.

The family of a soldier killed in Afghanistan experienced even more tragedy when his wife died a year later in a car accident. They left behind two young girls. Neither grandparents of the girls could afford to keep both of them so the girls had to be split up. One of the girls needed a computer and other school supplies which we supplied her with.

*The foundation also frequently pays for transportation costs for families to take their loved ones to hospitals or treatment centres. This also includes vehicles repairs and maintenance due to the wear and tear that the commuting causes.

With your ongoing support we can continue to grow this list and have a positive impact for wounded soldiers and their families during very hard times.

A few notes of thanks that the foundation has received lately;

"I am so happy to say thank you for everything you have done for me. Transitioning back to regular service has been a real struggle. A struggle that I know I couldn't have made on my own. Your foundation was the key to my success thus far and for that, I am for ever thankful. I still have a way to go but I am well on my way. Not to bad for someone who was told he may not ever walk again"

"I wanted to send this letter in appreciation of the chair that your organization authorized for me. The delivery of this chair has allowed me the opportunity to spend less time in my bed (until the chairs arrival I could spend 20 hours a day in my bed) and more time with my family in a normal setting. Since the IED in Afghanistan (August 24, 2008) I have suffered a great deal of pain and this chair has helped tremendously in giving comfort. Thank you and god bless you for everything you and all the staff at the Military Casualty Support Foundation for all that you do to help injured soldiers"
